HARTFORD — The Small Glories will perform at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art on Thursday, Nov. 7, following their U.S. debut tour of “Assiniboine & The Red,” the duet’s latest album.
Released worldwide on June 28 by Red House Records, the album celebrates the landscape of the Canadian Prairies; its title references the junction of two rivers, the Assiniboine (pronounced ‘uh-sin-uh-boin’) and the Red, in the duo’s hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Musicians Cara Luft, an original member of the Wailin’ Jennys, and multi-instrumentalist JD Edwards infuse their energetic live performances and buoyant, Americana-inflected folk songs with onstage humor and banter. Luft explains, many of the songs from “Assiniboine & The Red” “...were written around the theme of home — where we call home, where others call home — and the various stories and histories and landscape of these specific locations.”
Tickets for the Nov. 7 performance at the Wadsworth are available online at www.thewadsworth.org. Tickets are $28; $23 for Wadsworth members. The performance is 7 to 9 p.m. (cash bar opens at 6 p.m.)
Wadsworth Atheneum is at 600 Main Street, Hartford.
