Conard High School earns honors in Connecticut Light & Power's 'Live Green – Win Green' contest

WEST HARTFORD — Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) Acting Central Division Director Carol Brochu (left) presents Conard High School students Jeffry Hambrecht, Lena Fontana, Holly Saila, Katie Logue, Meg Logue and teacher Tim Decker with a trophy and a check for $5,000. The school was recently named a runner-up in the 2010 CL&P

Live Green – Win Green contest, which encourages students to consider projects to make their schools more environmentally friendly.

The students submitted a video and essay outlining their plan to implement “green” projects at the school. Conard's video also was named the "People's Choice" winner by finishing first in on-line voting.

Other runners-up were Staples High School in Westport and Wilby High School in Waterbury. The grand prize winner was Hartford's Bulkeley High School. You can see all of the entries and learn more about CL&P's Live Green – Win Green contest at www.livegreenwingreen.com.
