WEST HARTFORD — First Church, West Hartford, 12 South Main Street, West Hartford, will welcome back Debby Irving, author of “Waking of White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race.” Irving will join Claudia Fox Tree in an open, dynamic onstage conversation to explore racism toward Native Americans in the United States on Sept. 15 at 4 p.m..

Claudia Fox Tree is a Arawak/Yurumein educator who has taught in Massachusetts for over 30 years and is passionate about anti-racism and multicultural education.

In “Decolonizing the Mind Through Conversations We Were Never Meant to Have,” she and Irving will address how stereotypes, interactions, language, and relationships have evolved over the past four centuries. Delving in as only Debby Irving can, this event promises to encourage and inspire us as we hone our own insights into American history.
