In West Hartford, arrest made in hit and run death

WEST HARTFORD — The West Hartford Police Department reports that it has made an arrest in the hit and run death of Isaac Alvarez, who was found by and unidentified jogger early in the morning on April 10. In the course of its investigation, with the cooperation of the Hartford Police Department, West Hartford police identified the vehicle and operator involved.

The operator, Sharon Esson, 52, of Hartford, was arrested on July 1, and charged with one count of Evading Responsibility Resulting In Death.

Esson turned herself in at West Hartford Police Department on July 1, was charged and held on a $50,000 court set bond, pending her arraignment at GA#14 in Harford.

The victim, found in a grassy area of Albany Ave., near Bainton Road, was identified by police as Isaac Alvarez, 19, of Hartford.

Esson is next scheduled to appear in court on August 5.

No additional arrests are expected and this case continues to be an active investigation.
