Police: Hartford man ID’d in fatal West Hartford car fire

A fire engine leaves for a call from West Hartford Fire Station No. 1 in West Hartford, Conn., on Thursday Jan. 7, 2020.

WEST HARTFORD — Police say a Hartford man was killed in an accidental car fire that was discovered earlier this month on Kane Street.

Stephen Pelletier, 66, was identified as the person who died, West Hartford police wrote in a Tuesday update to the initial news release.

Fire officials squelched the flames Feb. 3 after the vehicle was found on fire, police said. Police said Pelletier was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing, according to state police.
