WEST HARTFORD — West Hartford has launched a dynamic new website, www.westhartfordct.gov/, designed and hosted by Connecticut-based Finalsite, a global leader in website and marketing solutions for more than 5,000 government organizations, schools, and universities worldwide according to an email from the town.

“We needed to rethink our web presence, and develop a solution that would serve as our digital communications hub both during and post COVID-19,” said Chief Information Officer Jared Morin. “Finalsite created a fresh new design that not only aligns with our brand and values, but also provides unparalleled access to sought-after information and online learning materials.”

Launched on July 6, West Hartford’s website is mobile responsive, features unique design elements and is completely ADA compliant. During the redesign process, efforts were made to improve navigation, remove outdated materials and enhance overall user experience.

The project began a year ago, after launching the West Hartford Public Schools new website, www.whps.org/, using the same platform, by using the same technology as the school district we are able to be more efficient by cutting costs and sharing resources.

“The West Hartford Information Technology Department is a shared service between the Town of West Hartford and West Hartford Public Schools; this is just the latest example of a shared resource, which includes a town-owned fiber optic network to all school and municipal buildings, saving over $300,000 a year in lease payments,” said Morin.

Two main goals for the newly designed website were to increase user engagement and accessibility. With Finalsite’s Composer product, West Hartford is able to easily integrate engaging content like social media, video and blog posts, which will boost engagement; website content can also be translated to more than 75 languages.

“With our new Finalsite website, we are better equipped to tell our community’s story, provide information for all constituents, and connect with our diverse population. Everything was designed with the needs of our community in mind to provide the best user experience possible,” said Morin.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Town of West Hartford’s launch of this beautiful new website! We trust the site will leverage their exceptional reputation and help West Hartford take their communications and marketing efforts to the next level,” said Gerard Gustafson, director of client success at Finalsite.
