West Hartford resident named Associate Business Dean at UConn

Professor Jose M. Cruz

STORRS — The University of Connecticut has announced the appointment of Professor Jose M. Cruz, of West Hartford, as the new Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at the School of Business.

Cruz most recently served as Director of the master’s degree program in Business Analytics and Project Management (MSBAPM), where he is credited with spearheading the program’s growth from about 50 to 500 students. The program is among the Top 20 of its kind in the nation.

Earlier this year, Cruz received the AAUP Service Excellence Award, presented annually to 10 outstanding faculty members at UConn. He has also received the School of Business’ Ackerman Scholarship award twice, the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award, Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award, and Distinguished Service Award.

“As the associate dean for graduate programs, I see great potential for growth nationally and internationally for all our graduate programs,” Cruz said. “I am excited to work jointly with great faculty and staff in building synergy across the programs (graduate and undergraduate), departments, and campuses. I look forward to helping with the sustainability of our programs and to continuing to make the UConn School of Business a destination for great students and future alumni.”
