West Hartford’s Sound of New England Chorus brings home first

The Sound of New England Chorus recently placed first in the small chorus division, and 5th overall, at the Sweet Adelines North Atlantic regional competition in Springfield, Mass.

WEST HARTFORD — The Sound of New England Chorus recently placed 1st in the small chorus division, and 5th overall, at the Sweet Adelines North Atlantic regional competition in Springfield, Mass., on Saturday, May 11. Fourteen choruses from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, upstate New York, and Quebec competed in all, and the competition was fierce. The Sound of New England Chorus was extremely pleased with its results and overall score.

In addition, one of Sound of New England’s members, Olga Harhay, placed 3rd as part of a new quartet, Phoenix Rising, out of 23 quartets the previous day. It was an exciting and unforgettable competition weekend for all.

Sound of New England Chorus is a non-profit, award-winning Sweet Adelines chorus that fosters a cappella barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance. This dynamic and entertaining female chorus is based in West Hartford, and rehearses at 7 p.m. every Tuesday evening in the auditorium at Saint Mary Home.
