Three members of the Kingswood Oxford football team, Kareem Burton ‘17 , Ian Britt ’18 and Ben Tauber ’18 were recently named to the All Fairchester Athletic Association football team.

Tauber was also named to the Class C All-New England team by the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council.

Tauber, a Glastonbury resident, was selected at quarterback.

“I was excited but I don’t really like to focus individually, I’d rather the focus be on the team and for us to have success,” Tauber said. “It was a rebuilding year, we are young with almost everyone coming back so we are excited about the future.”

Burton, who plays tackle on both the offensive and defensive lines, is listed as the No. 17 recruit in the class of 2017 by NUC Sports and is entertaining options at the FBS and FCS level.

The Waterbury native was pumped up when he finally received word about the honor.

“I was excited about it, honestly, I started running around the locker room because I wasn’t sure if I’d make it,” Burton said. “It is nice to know the other coaches thought of me as all league.”

While Burton plans the next steps in his career, he feels he is leaving the Wyvern program in a good spot.

“It’s a young team and it is still building,” Burton said. “They are going to be good. Over the next couple years they are going to take off again.”

Britt, who hails from Springfield, MA, is listed as the No. 5 recruit in Connecticut’s class of 2018 according to Rivals and has attracted interest from Boston College, Duke, Princeton, Temple and Villanova.

“It was definitely a celebration, I was so happy,” Britt said. “You put in a lot of work, doing stuff all off season so to see it pay off was exciting.”

Britt was thrust into a more prominent role as a junior and shined, now he is working hard to prepare for his senior season and one more chance to lead the Wyvern offense along with Tauber.

“This year was a good season, it started off a little rocky but we found ourselves and have a lot to build on,” Britt said. “We have a lot of players coming back and the future looks exciting.”
