The West Hartford Youth Football League (WHYFL) kicked off their Week 10 quarterfinal playoff matchups and championship games this weekend with games at Conard High School and Farmington High School. The weekend included a full slate of games at the NFL flag division, C Division (3-4th grade), B Division (5-6th grade), and A Division (7-8th grade).

C Division (3-4th grade) Championship

#1 seed - Fischman Orthodontics Cowboys 34, #2 seed - Beachland Tavern Jets 6

The Nutmeg Youth Football League “C” Division Championship was held this past Sunday at Conard High School. After a competitive 2017 season, the championship game matched up the two top seeded teams, the West Hartford Cowboys and the West Hartford Jets.

The Cowboys ultimately emerged victorious, winning 34-6, capping off an undefeated season. The Cowboys win was the result of strong team effort by Brady Cersosimo, William Davis Jr., Seamus Egan, Ronan Foley, Blaise Fuller, Michael Griffin-Prado, Donovan Lampkin, Thomas Moran, Matthew O'Meara, Henry Tamaccio, Benjamin Walsh, Owen Holmes, Tommy Hussey, Xavien Correa, Brendan Kennedy, Jacob Rivera, Amari Lambert, and Landon Thomas. This is the third year in a row that a West Hartford team has won the Nutmeg Championship.

The Jets had a competitive team made up of Jorge Diaz, Tyler Ganci, Luis Garcia, Jacob Hart, Davih Merced, Carlos Jariel Nunez, Carla Nunez, Colin Rich, Maneet Singh, Janiel Villodas, John Walker, Aaron Zappone, Bruce Zoeller, Sinclair Young, Justin Flor, and Christopher Brew.

B Division (5-6th grade) Quarterfinals

#5 seed – Southington Panthers 12, #4 seed – WH Giants 6

In a true defensive battle, the Southington Panthers outlasted the West Hartford Giants 12-6 in quadruple overtime Sunday afternoon at Conard High School.

The Southington Panthers advance to next weekend’s B division semi-final where they will face the #1 seed Southington Steelers at Southington Recreation Park.

#3 seed – WH Patriots 27, #6 seed – Farmington Blue 6

The West Hartford Patriots leveraged a solid ground game and strong defense en route to a convincing 27-6 quarterfinal victory over Farmington Blue Sunday afternoon at Conard High School. The #3 seed Patriots advance to next weekend’s semi-final where they will face the #2 seed West Hartford Colts Sunday at Conard High School.

A Division (7-8th grade) Quarterfinals

#4 seed – Farmington White 15, #5 seed – WH Eagles 12

Farmington White outlasted the West Hartford Eagles 15-12 Sunday afternoon at Conard High School. The #4 seed Farmington White advance to face #1 seed Farmington Black next Sunday at Farmington High School.

#3 seed – WH Raiders 42, #6 seed Southington Chargers 20

The West Hartford Raiders ran past the Southington Chargers 42-20 in a quarterfinal playoff matchup Sunday afternoon at Conard High School. The #3 seed Raiders advance to next week end’s semi-final matchup where they will face the #2 seed West Hart ford Chargers.
